As the expression goes, you have to make hay when the sun shines! I am pretty sure that expression applies more to flower-photography than it does deck-staining.
My peony bush is kinda under a birch tree, which makes for a pretty lighting situation. The peonies spend half the day flirting with the sun, and the other half in a full-on tryst! I can see the whole relationship develop from my kitchen window. It is fun to watch.
MUN Botanical Gardens has a heritage garden. Some of the plants growing there have been around for 10 generations!
I love the idea of heritage plants, and heritage animals too for that matter. We live in a unique and harsh environment. If a plant or animal manages to figure out a way to survive here, it is very worthwhile to keep its genetics around. It is not easy to survive here. Most of us are 3 or 4 ferry-runs away from starvation!
But let's not worry about that on such a beautiful sunny day :-)
Now, where did I hide that can of stain?
